September 22nd 2012:
This particular wedding was one I'd really been looking forward to ever since I got the first details at my initial consultation with Aimee. It promised to have all of the ingredients for a spectacular wedding and trust me, it did not disappoint.
The ceremony and reception were held at the historic Ford Piquette Plant in downtown Detroit. The former home of the Ford Motor Company, it is now a museum dedicated to informing patrons of the many historic cars that were produced there. The 'T-Plex' as it is affectionately known, is a hidden gem in the city of Detroit and was a perfect fit for this couple's unique I-do's.
Ceremony:
The ceremony was held on the second floor of the plant. White Christmas lights were re-purposed and draped above the guests' seats leading all the way up to ceremony altar. The vows took place in front of an incredible handmade floor to ceiling glass bubble wall. The bride walked down the aisle to Jem's rendition of "Maybe I'm Amazed". The couples longtime friend, Josh Monat performed the ceremony which featured custom vows. The couple also chose to incorporate the signing of their marriage license into their ceremony.
Cocktail Hour:
While pictures were taken, the guests were ushered upstairs to the third floor to enjoy cocktail hour. The bar featured Michigan-made beer and wine along with Faygo pop and a signature drink dubbed "The Greyhound', a tribute to the couple's beloved dog, Eero. The band, The Science Fair, did a great job warming up the crowd and getting them ready to dance the night away. Guests were invited to stroll and admire the historic cars on display, relax at the custom lounge, or sign the unique guest book- Eames House of Cards.
Reception:
A mixture of long captain's tables and traditional round tables made up the reception area. The tables were named after famous buildings in the Metro Detroit area. Black linens and handmade chevron table runners made the perfect canvas for Pot & Box's adorable fall inspired floral arrangements. The couple's sweetheart table featured a floor length chevron table linen and was adorned by a handmade glass bubble chandelier. Zingerman's Catering provided the delicious buffet while Domestic Arts created the absolutely adorable chevron cake. Family members & friends also provided handmade desserts (including french macaroons & mini apple pies) for guests to munch on. As a late night snack, the couple provided cider and doughnuts from Parmenter's Orchard.
This wedding was made incredible by the unique and personal details that the bride and groom included. Their wedding did an outstanding job of representing who they are as a couple. Congrats Aimee & Matt!
